The Edge Art Gallery and Glassblowing Studio is located on Highway 101 just half a mile south of the Yaquina Bay Bridge in Newport Or.  It currently exhibits 26 different artists 13 of whom are local.  The artwork is very diverse in style and media ranging from hand blown and fused glass to oil pastel and acrylic painting to ceramics, jewelry, fiber arts and various forms of sculpture. There is a glass blowing studio right in the gallery space so visitors can watch this beautiful and ancient art in action.  Visitors can also take individual classes to design and blow their own glass float. Check out the video pages – glass blowing classes – to get a feel for the experience of “getting hot at the edge!”

This is a half hour process and costs $50 for a hanging or regular float in the colors of your choice or $60 for a stuffed float which can be filled with shells and sand provided by the gallery or any treasures you wish to bring in.  A good way to memorialize your first glassblowing experience is to ask for a pencil portrait of yourself in action by professionally trained artist Jacquelyn Hewitt.

The gallery offers gift certificates for glassblowing classes and/or works from the gallery. Custom glass lamps, floats, vases etc as well as paintings and works in other media are also available. In 2007 look for new services like wine tasting & studio rental for events.    
Gallery winter hours are 10am to 5 pm Wednesday through Sunday or by appointment. Summer hours are: 10am to 6 pm seven days a week.
